Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy mainly deals with students who have speech disorders and communication problems. At Acadeos, we regularly conduct classes for students with such disorders. Our classes have a high success rate—thanks to our dedicated and skilled teachers. Our teachers are specialised in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of speech disorders. There are several language and speech disorders that speech therapy can resolve. Some of the most common speech and communication disorders are Articulation disorders, Fluency disorders and Resonance disorders. In most cases, Speech therapy starts with an evaluation to determine the type of communication disorder and the best possible way to treat it.

Articulation Problem

Speech therapy is usually done one-on-one or in a small group. In speech therapy, our teachers stimulate language development by interacting through playing, talking and using pictures, books and other objects. Students having Articulation disorder can even join our online live sessions from the comfort of their house. In our live sessions, we provide homework and strategies for the child and as well as the parent. The time period of a speech therapy depends on several factors like the severity of the speech disorder and their age.

Fluency Problem

Speech therapy also helps in boosting the self-confidence of a student by improving their fluency. In order to improve their fluency, our teachers provide our students with various tongue exercises and jaw exercises. Speech therapy should begin as soon as possible. Children who start speech therapy before the age of 5, tend to have better results than those who begin later. It is a very complex process that requires a lot of time. In our online live sessions, we provide all our students with the best administration and special assistance so that they can slowly improve. We make sure that students are regularly given homework so that we can keep a check on their growth and development. At Acadeos, we have our own progress tracker which helps us in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of a student so that our teachers can work on it.

Resonance Problem

When there is too little or too much oral and/or nasal sound energy in the speech signal, it is known as Resonance disorder. For students suffering from Resonance disorder, they should keep attending the speech therapy classes until their problem gets fully resolved. In our speech therapy classes, we make sure that each and every student gets the same attention and care. Sometimes, speech disorders continue into adulthood and require long-term treatment and proper maintenance.

In some cases, speech disorders even lead to Dysphagia or oral feeding disorders. Dysphagia disorder includes problems with swallowing, chewing, gagging, coughing and refusing foods. Therefore the importance of speech therapy is unparalleled.

Each and every student slowly improves at their own pace and they should not be pressured or forced as it can severely affect their self-confidence. Overcoming a language or speech disorder sometimes takes a lot of effort and time. So it is extremely necessary for family members to be gentle and understanding with the child. With early intervention, speech therapy can improve communication in a short span of time.
