At the pre-school level, Acadeos provides a suitable environment for the children to learn how to interact with others and prepares them for the formal education they will be receiving in Primary School. Our study plan includes learning the basic languages and numerics, development of personal and social skills, playing games and learning music. At this level, children learn two languages— English and their respective mother tongue. Apart from studies, here at Acadeos, we put emphasis on the extra curricular activities as well, because we believe that both play equally important roles in the overall development of a child.

Primary education in Singapore usually comprises a four year foundation stage which starts from Primary 1 to 4 and a two year orientation stage which is from Primary 5 to 6. It is mandatory to attend primary school in Singapore for all students under the Compulsory Education Act of 2003 and is completely funded by the Ministry of Education for all the Singaporean citizens.

From Primary 1 to 4, i.e. in the foundation stage, Acadeos aims to strengthen their command over English since it is the first language and is considered to be an essential skill to develop. At this stage, we also introduce subjects like Civics, Moral education, Social studies, Health education and Physical education among others. However, Science and Mathematics are introduced only from Primary 3. Here at Acadeos, we also put emphasis on effectively teaching the chosen mother language to our students (which may be Standard Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, Hindi, Punjabi or Bengali) giving particular significance on reading and speaking skills, so that the students are open to various opportunities in the future globally.

After passing Primary 4, students move to the orientation stage where they are streamed according to a scheme known as “Subject-based banding”, where they can choose subjects at different levels based on their final scores in Primary 4. Acadeos prepares all its students to the best of their capabilities and provides all the necessary guidance till the last minute, for them to do extremely well in the examinations and consequently choose the best stream that is offered.

After completing six years of Primary Education, all the students need to sit for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). Acadeos caters to all the specific needs of every student and helps them to cover all the nooks and corners of the syllabus without having to get overwhelmed. We provide step by step preparation of every chapter, conduct weekly tests, problem solving sessions, video lectures and detailed study materials— basically everything you need to pass the examination with flying colours.

Students are then assigned a secondary school of their choice, based on their results at the PSLE examination.

According to the marks obtained in the PSLE examination, students are placed in various streams in the secondary school: “Special”, “Express”, “Normal (Academic)” and “Normal (Technical)”.Both “Special” and “Express” are four year programs leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level examination. Students pursuing “Special” stream opt for a “Higher Mother Tongue” instead of a “Normal Mother Tongue”, whereas, students going for “Express” stream, who choose a “Normal Mother Tongue” need to go through an extra year of preparation in their mother tongue language after their ‘O’ level examination in order to sit for an ‘A’ level H1 Mother Tongue Examination and fulfill the mother tongue requirements of the Ministry of Education in Singapore.

“Normal” is also a four year program leading up to a ‘N’ level examination, including an extra fifth year before appearing for the GCE ‘O’ Level exam. The ” Normal” stream is divided into two subcategories— Academic and Technical. The Academic course prepares the students for the GCE ‘O’ Level examinations with subjects like Principles of Accounting. On the other hand, students of the Technical course take up subjects like Design and Technology and usually go for the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) after passing the ‘N’ level examinations.

Here, since Acadeos strengthens the foundation of the mother tongue language of its students at the primary school level itself, it becomes much easier for Acadeos students to sweep through the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination with the desired results. Besides, Acadeos also has separate study programs where our highly experienced faculties specifically prepare them for exams like the GCE ‘O’ level and ‘N’ level examinations with utmost dedication in order to achieve expected results.

After graduating from high school, students apply to junior colleges, based on their marks obtained in the GCE ‘O’ Level examination, following a L1R5 (English+ 5 relevant subjects) scoring system. Here, students take a two year course which prepares them for the GCE “A” Level examination which is required for further university studies.

Here, Acadeos engages its students in detailed, analytical studies of various subjects such as Humanities, Mathematics and science. Our virtual classroom study offers the students an appropriate environment for focusing well in a home setting. Faculties conduct regular classes and provide detailed study materials, quizzes and a lot more in order to prepare them well for the ‘A’ level examination appropriately.

Students who wish to pursue specialised studies generally go for a 3 year diploma course in Polytechnics or Arts Institutions where they get prepared for workforce and university studies at the same time.

Lately, Integrated Programmes with Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ levels and IB diploma is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative approach to the standard secondary education system. Such programs allow the students to skip the GCE ‘O’ Level exam and directly go for ‘A’ levels, International Baccalaureate or Junior colleges. Such programmes provide opportunities of a much more flexible and in depth education. It emphasizes more on the basic technical and industrial skills rather than giving the usual heavy significance to Sciences. It makes the students engage in independent learning and is generally project-based.
