Malaysia Curriculum

Malaysia Curriculum

Just as any other country, Malaysia mainly follows a four tier education system which consists:

  • 1. Primary Education
  • 2. Secondary Education
  • 3. Post-secondary Education
  • 4. Tertiary Education

The education system in Malaysia is basically governed by the Federal Government, but each state and federal territory consists of their respective departments of education who administer and coordinate all the educational affairs in their territory.

Everything is in Acadeos

Education Systems In Malaysia Curriculum

Pre-school

Although pre-schooling is not compulsory in Malaysia, Acadeos believes that it is important for children to go through a transition phase before moving on to Primary School. In this way children become quite accustomed with the school environment, learn to interact with their classmates and teachers and basically ease out a little bit by the time they go to Primary school. At this stage, Acadeos imparts basic knowledge about the compulsory languages, strengthens the reading and listening skills, introduces numbers and gives a very brief idea about the basic social and personal skills in general. We also try to engage our children in various co-curriculars that improve their intellect and thinking ability.

Primary Education

Primary schools in Malaysia are run by both government and private institutions. The only difference between the two is the medium of instruction— government schools teach in vernacular medium, while private schools have English as the medium of instruction. Primary education is compulsory in Malaysia and is funded by the Ministry of Education for all the citizens of Malaysia studying in Government schools. Primary education is a six year phase starting from Year 1 to 6, where Year 1 to 3 is considered as Level one and Year 4 to 6 as Level two. At the Primary School level, Acadeos aims to strengthen the writing skills of our students, both in Malay and English, develop knowledge about Science and Mathematics and prepare them for the upcoming Primary School Achievement Test or Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) which they need to sit for while leaving Primary school.

Secondary Education

Secondary education in Malaysia is referred to as Form 1-5, where Form 1-3 is considered to be Lower Secondary and Form 4-5 is known as Upper Secondary. Acadeos engages its students in detailed and in depth study of all the subjects, giving significant importance to the two compulsory languages— Malay and English. Our faculties provide sufficient study materials, lectures, regular home works, tests and even extra classes for the weaker students. We conduct a virtual parent-teacher meeting every month to discuss every child’s progress in detail. Besides, our weekly doubt clearing and interactive sessions are always available!

Students need to take the Pentaksiran Tingkatanor Form Three Assessment after they complete Form 3, based on which they will be allowed to choose one stream from

  • 1. Academic Stream (Science/Arts)
  • 2. Technical and Vocational Stream
  • 3. Religious Stream.

Again, after completing their secondary education, i.e. after Form 5, students need to sit for the sijil pelajaran malaysia (SPM) or Malaysian Certificate of Education in order to graduate from Secondary school.

Here, students need to attempt a GCE ‘O’ Level English paper along with their SPM English paper and are given a separate grade based on the results.

Acadeos provides special guidance to our students during such examinations and conduct regular tests and paper solving sessions in order to have the best preparation before the examinations commence.

Post-secondary Education

After passing the SPM, students have an option of continuing with Form 6 or go in for Matriculation. In case students choose to continue with Form 6, they need to sit for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or Malaysian Higher School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to the GCE ‘A’ Level Examination. It is a three-term course with a final examination at the end of each term. On the other hand, the matriculation programme is a semester-based examination which includes two semesters per year.

Some students choose to do their pre-university studies from private colleges while some opt for programmes such as British A level programme, Canadian Matriculation programme to name a few.

Lately, the International Baccalaureate programme is becoming increasingly popular among students as it is much more flexible and offers enough freedom for independent studies.

Acadeos provides specialised studies according to the respective subjects chosen by the students and our faculties who are here to teach the post-secondary students are highly qualified and are big names of the field. So, you can be rest assured that we’re offering you the best you can get!

Tertiary Education

After completing their STPM or Matriculation courses, students go for local universities for further studies while some join polytechnic, arts or technical and industrial based courses to join the workforce thereafter.

Acadeos provides a huge variety of references and books that will cater to all your needs while you’re in the middle of your university studies. Besides, we also assist you with your project works and thesis writings. Our faculties are also there to help you with all your doubts at any time.
