Education in Canada is appreciated worldwide for its affordability and flexibility. Most of it is funded by the government and the curriculum is overseen by the provincial governments. The compulsory age for every citizen to continue their education is 16 years, with a few exceptions. The curriculum, as well as the assessment methods of Canadian schools are fixed upon by their respective provinces. Structurally, the school system in Canada can be divided into 3 levels.

Three Levels Of Canadian Curriculum

Pre Elementary school

Begins at kindergarten for children of age 4-5 and is compulsory in some provinces, optional in some others. The syllabus for pre elementary education is basic reading, writing and cognitive skills. Children are prepared for the next step in their education, at this level. At Acadeos, we aim to do the same for your child. Primary school

Primary education in Canada is compulsory for all children, starting at age 6-7, in grade 1, extending up to age 11-12, in grade 6. The subjects for Canadian primary education are reading, mathematics, English language (French in some provinces), history, science and liberal arts like music and art. At this stage, students mostly are accustomed to having one teacher teaching them all subjects, in the same classroom. This stage is crucial for a child’s development and Acadeos helps them sail through their primary education effortlessly. Not only does it see to each child’s academic needs, but also takes care to ensure all-round development.

Secondary education (Junior High School and High School)

Junior high or intermediate education begins right after primary school and continues for 2 years, for grade 7 and 8. Here their area of knowledge increases and new skills are developed. Most junior high or lower secondary schools offer two streams for students to choose from: academic and general. Each child can choose their field based on their personal preferences and inclinations. We at Acadeos help them select their course of action and set up a plan for the future. After junior high school or lower secondary school, students move to High School or Upper Secondary School to complete the rest of their training. High School presently offers students both, academic and vocational training, respectively. Students are expected to ace their understanding of the subjects they have chosen for themselves by the end of their term.
